I am an investigator - what do I have to enter

After you receive your account authorization, please log in and update your profile information.  Upon logging in, you will be taken directly to your profile.  You will see a series of tabs, each of which contains options to provide further information about you or your site.

The most important tab to complete as quickly as possible is the one that is RED.  That tab requests information about you education (Medical School), your specialty and subspecialties as applicable and your license information.  You also have the option to upload a copy of your CV (word or PDF) and a profile picture should you choose to do so.

Hint:  to add a specialty / subspecialty press the (+) sign below the table.  If you make a mistake you can press the (X) to remove the entry.

Once you complet all the requested information, the tab will turn green indicating that the information is complete.  Of course you can go back and amend or add anything at any time.

BioPharma Investigator asks for a lot of information - Do I have to enter it all

There are a couple of things that make BioPharma Investigator unique.  One of them is that you do not have to enter all the requested information yourself.  You are fully responsible for entering information about your investigator profile.  However, you can nominate someone to provide the department and institution information.  Most likely there are other investigators at your institution who are also participating in the BioPharma Investigator database.  If they enter institution information, or share a department, you will be able to leverage the information already provided and not have to enter it again.  Whenever someone updates the department or institution information, everyone in the department or institution will have access to those updates.

What happens if I change institutions

If you change institutions, no problem, you take your information with you.  All you need to do is update your profile with the new institution information.  Most likely, when you link to a new institution, most of the institution information will already be there since it is shared across investigators at an institution.

I have changed institutions and can no longer log in

It is possible that in the period between when you left an institution and when you tried to log in the change your institutional relationships, that your prior institution reported that you were no longer there and requested that your account be deactivated.  Have no fear, however, because we have merely suspended your account privileges and can reactivate your account so that you can link to your new institution.  All of your information is still there, just waiting to be associated with a new institution.  Just contact us at Questions@BioPharmaInvestigator.com with your account details and we will be happy to assist you.

What happens to the information I provide

Any information you provide is potentially viewable by Sponsors as they seek to find the best clinical sites to participate in their studies.  However, your privacy is important to us, so we do not disclose your contact information (email and phone), unless you have agreed to have it disclosed by participating in the site feasibility process.

There are three phases to the selection process.  In the first phase, Sponsors screen the database to find potential sites that match the criteria that they find most important.  In that phase, your name is disclosed along with your primary Institution.  In the second phase, the Sponsors evaluate the information regarding your background and expertise as well as your site's capabilities.  In that phase, information about your site's capabilities and your research interests and experience are disclosed.  In the third phase Sponsors select from the list which potential investigators they want to evaluate via feasibility survey.  When the feasibility survey is launched and you complete it, your contact information is disclosed to the sponsor as part of the survey results.  If you do not participate in the survey, then your contact information is not disclosed.

I have never conducted a clinical trial - why should I register

If you have ever considered being an investigator in a clinical study, but have not done so before, a Phase IV or registry trial may be the place to start.  Phase IV and registry trials utilize approved pharmaceutical or biologic products according to their label instructions, but are needed to gain further safety and efficacy data beyond what was collected in pre-registration trials.

These trials utilize many physician investigators, many of whom have little or no clinical trial experience.  These investigators enroll patients according to the labeled indication in order to collect additional data on safety and efficacy.  This product use and data collection is done under real use situations, the information collected is essential in further establishing the product's safety and efficacy.

Participating in the database does not require you to participate in a clinical trial, ultimately you decide which trials are right for you.  However, just like the lottery, you have to be in it to win it, so by participating, you have the opportunity to be involved in a clinical trial.  Of course participation the database does not guarantee that you will be selected as a Investigator for a trial, but it increases your odds.  Additionally the more information your provide in your profile and your site profile enhance your selection chances.
